Many publishers recommend editing and other language services, either in house or outside the publishing company. The Springer Nature company currently recommends "English language editing" to reach "Nature Research" standards, and "scientific editing" that examines all aspects of a text. My name is Juliana Starkman. I have been freelancing as a translator, proofreader and editor for many years, in areas ranging from the social sciences (development, human rights, environment, ethnology, cultural and more) to the arts and medicine. I hold a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature and have written and lectured myself, which helped me develop a good eye for text critique and the need to take nuance and context into account when working with a text.
